Most outdoor cat houses are simply a wooden box with a hole in it. This one is lined with an aluminium insulation board, which holds warmth in through the winter and reflects heat away in summer, so the inside stays closer to comfortable across the year.
The rest of the design works to the same end: a slanted asphalt roof sheds rain, a plastic flap over the door keeps out wind and draughts, and the whole house sits 9cm clear of the ground so damp does not rise through the floor. The roof lifts off for cleaning.
